Description
The IC670MDL644 discrete input module is a DC positive/negative fast input module made by GE Fanuc. It comes with 16 discrete inputs that are grouped together. The module receives power from the BIU to run its 5 Volts logic power. It requires an external 24 Volts DC power supply to power up the input devices which are connected to it. There is a status indicator LED which is known as the “PWR” LED, and which turns on when the backplane power is present. The IC670MDL644 discrete input module consists of 2 bytes of input data that are processed inside the bus interface unit. Some of the input characteristics of the module include 3k ohms of input impedance, 3 to 8 milliamps of on-state current, 0 to 1.5 milliamps of off-state current, and 25 microseconds of on response time.
The IC670MDL644 DC positive/negative fast input module has optional keying locations that are labeled with the letters A, C, G, and H. It comes with 24 Volts DC of rated voltage, 0 to 30 Volts DC of input voltage, and 8 milliamps of user input current per point. It also has capacitors for input filtering. There is a data buffer that stores the data that came from the 16 inputs. The data in the buffer needs to be converted into a serial format before it is sent to the BIU for processing. The IC670MDL644 discrete input module can use its inputs either as positive inputs or as negative inputs. The inputs produce logic 1 or true values when the switch is off. It is advised to select each of the inputs as positive or negative, depending on the external power supply connections.
