Description
In the following exercises, you will perform these steps to create the control strategy: Create and name a plant area to hold the control modules. Create the modules that specify the input, processing, output, alarms, and conditions for the process equipment, control loops, and other parts of the process. Create a Sequential Function Chart (SFC) to automate the process. Strictly speaking, you do not need to create an SFC. You can set up your process system in such a way that an operator would activate specific equipment, change setpoints, and perform other operations. However, in many cases, it is useful to define a Sequential Function Chart to automate the process (or parts of the process, such as startup or shutdown procedures) with minimal operator intervention. When creating the control modules that make up your control strategy, sometimes you will create a module from scratch (using the basic function blocks), but more often you will start with one of the predefined module templates.
